Audi AG (German: [ˈʔaʊ̯diː ˈʔaːˈgeː] ) is really a German automobile manufacturer that designs, engineers, produces, markets and distributes luxury automobiles. Audi is a member of the Volkswagen Team and has its origins at Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Philippines. Audi-branded vehicles are manufactured in nine production facilities globally.
The origins of the company are complex, heading back towards the early twentieth century and the initial businesses (Horch and the Audiwerke) started by engineer August Horch; and two other producers (DKW and Wanderer), top to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern era associated with Audi essentially began within the 1960s when Auto Union was acquired simply by Volkswagen from Daimler-Benz. Right after relaunching the Audi brand with the 1965 introduction of the Audi F103 series, Volkswagen merged Auto Union with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969, thus creating the present day type of the company.
The company title is based on the Latin translation of the surname from the founder, Aug Horch. "Horch", meaning "listen" in German, becomes "audi" in Latin. The 4 rings from the Audi logo design each represent one associated with four car companies that banded together to generate Audi's predecessor company, Auto Partnership. Audi's slogan is Vorsprung durch Technik, meaning "Being Ahead through Technology". However, Audi USA had utilized the slogan "Truth in Engineering" from 2007 in order to 2016, and have not used slogan since 2016.
